Die IdeeThe idea
Bei einer Baumpatenschaft übernimmst du die Patenschaft für einen bestimmten Baum, meist für ein Jahr oder länger. Der Baum bleibt dabei im Besitz der Waldbesitzerin oder des Waldbesitzers. Dein Beitrag fliesst in die Pflege und den Erhalt des Waldes, und du bekommst dafür ein Zertifikat zu deinem Baum sowie regelmässig Nachrichten darüber, wie es ihm geht. With a tree sponsorship you sponsor a specific tree, usually for a year or longer. The tree remains the property of the forest owner. Your contribution goes into the care and preservation of the forest, and in return you receive a certificate for your tree and regular news about how it is doing.
Eine Patenschaft ist symbolisch. Du erwirbst kein Eigentum am Baum oder am Boden, und ernten darfst du ihn auch nicht. Was du bekommst, ist etwas anderes: einen konkreten Ort im Wald, der mit deinem Namen verbunden ist. Das klingt unspektakulär, bis man zum ersten Mal vor seinem eigenen Baum steht. A sponsorship is symbolic. You do not acquire ownership of the tree or the land, and you may not harvest it either. What you get is something else: a specific place in the forest connected to your name. That sounds unspectacular, until you stand in front of your own tree for the first time.
So läuft es abHow it works
Zuerst wählst du einen Anbieter und ein Paket. Patenschaften gibt es von Forstbetrieben, Gemeinden, Stiftungen und von privaten Waldbesitzern wie uns. Danach wird dir ein Baum zugewiesen. Bei uns heisst das: Wir suchen einen Baum aus, fotografieren ihn und tragen ihn mit seinen GPS-Koordinaten in unser Waldbuch ein. Du erhältst das Zertifikat mit Foto und Koordinaten, und ab dann jedes Jahr einen Bericht aus dem Wald. Ein Glas Honig aus der Region legen wir auch noch dazu. First you choose a provider and a plan. Sponsorships are offered by forestry operations, municipalities, foundations, and private forest owners like us. Then a tree is assigned to you. For us that means: we select a tree, photograph it, and enter it with its GPS coordinates into our forest register. You receive the certificate with photo and coordinates, and from then on a report from the forest every year. We also add a jar of regional honey.

Üblich sind Laufzeiten von einem Jahr, die sich verlängern lassen. Bei STAMM verlängert sich die Patenschaft jährlich; kündbar ist sie jederzeit auf das Ende der laufenden Periode, eine E-Mail genügt. Terms of one year that can be extended are common.
